>> Ezeagwu had always planned to play college football with his twin, David, but BCS schools like Maryland weren’t recruiting David, so the brothers decided to go their separate ways. Both had offers from James Madison, but Daniel Ezeagwu found Maryland too enticing an opportunity to turn down. He projects as a boundary cornerback in college and could contribute immediately, much like the hard-working Will Likely did as a Maryland freshman last season.
“I’m not going to lie, it was a big relief,” Ezeagwu said by telephone after the commitment. “All that weight off my shoulders, in a way. No more all these coaches calling me. I’m relieved. It’s a good fit. I made a good choice.”
>> What really sealed the deal for Ezeagwu was meeting fellow Nigerian recruit Nnamdi Egbuaba, a linebacker from St. Frances in Baltimore, on their official visits last month. They hit it off immediately and plan to room together during their freshman years. The interaction, they said, seemed kismet, and once Egbuaba committed, Ezeagwu felt compelled to as well.
“It was real crazy,” Ezeagwu said. “We were saying it’s destiny. This is destiny. It’s real crazy.”
>> The Terps were shut out from Virginia for their class of 2013, taking only walk-on Dylan O’Connor from the state.
