Name: Nnamdi Egbuaba.
High school: St. Frances Academy.
Height, weight: 6 feet 1, 215 pounds.
Rank: Three stars (247sports and ESPN.com).
>> A recent immigrant to the United States, Egbuaba committed to Maryland after only 14 months of high school football experience, which speaks plenty to his high ceiling and quick-learning abilities. He worked himself onto the first string at St. Frances and finished with 19 sacks this season, according to his coach Messay Hailemariam, himself a Maryland walk-on in the early 1990s.
“He came to this country with an opportunity, no idea when it would come to fruition, hoping to make himself a relevant person in terms of football,” Hailemariam said. “From the first day he set foot in the country, he’s been nothing but a model.”
>> Former Washington Redskins linebacker LaVar Arrington has served as a mentor.
