Inside Comcast Center, behind the tunnel through which visiting teams enter on game days, right next to the Maryland basketball weight room, sits a nondescript door — room 0113 — with a sign labeled, “Storage.” This is the student managers’ locker room. On the wall opposite the door, senior Evan Lipinski has painted a mural of a silver silhouette flexing its muscles, surrounded by the phrases “Zaching” and “#Livingthedream.”
Lipinski did this to honor Zach Lederer, the former Maryland student manager who inspired many with the post-surgery power pose called “Zaching.” Today, Lederer continues to battle brain cancer. He underwent his sixth surgery in September and is currently fighting at home under hospice care.
