Marijuana legalization supporters will meet in Washington today — the unofficial holiday that celebrates cannabis consumption and culture — for rallies “420 in DC” and “Overgrow the Government.”

The “420 in DC” rally will begin at noon on the mall and will feature four speakers, including Denver lawyer and conservative legalization advocate Jessica Corry. Washington Post columnist Kathleen Parker discussed Corry’s unusual GOP position in the 2009 column “Reefer sanity: The marijuana lobby goes mainstream.”

“Overgrow the Government” attendees will begin their march seeking “an end to cannabis prohibition,” according to the group’s Facebook page, at the Washington Monument this morning. The event will be live streamed here.
