A.M. Buzz: Flooding, fashion and a small sigh of relief for Fairfax shoppers

Turn around, don’t drown. The rain isn’t behind us just yet, and neither is flooding around the region as storms make their way through the Washington area. Take care on the roads today and try to keep your chins up. The Capital Weather Gang promises there’s reason to hope for better — dry and sunny, huzzah! — weather this weekend.

Fairfax area shoppers can breathe a small sigh of relief. A suspect believed to be responsible for slashing women’s buttocks in local malls has been identified and is believed to have fled the area.

More controversy for D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray. Andrea Pringle, his deputy chief of staff of just one week, resigned after coming under fire for voting in last year’s D.C. primary while living in Maryland.

Are farm wineries nothing but loud rural bars? The bitter debate over whether wineries help or hurt Virginia’s countryside may soon be put to rest, as Fauquier County leaders prepare to vote on a new set of rules that would limit winery hours and ban amplified music.

It’s not every day a performance featuring a magician and an 11-year-old singing a Phil Collins tune is called “predictable,” but that was exactly the feedback a dance team from West Springfield received before being booted from the reality competition show “America’s Got Talent” last night. Check out their zombie-inspired costumes and dance routine, and judge for yourself.
