While D.C.’s Anacostia neighborhood has continued to emerge as a residential destination, its growth as a commercial district has moved at a slower pace. However, one key element to the area being able to attract more privates businesses and retail locations may finally be coming to fruition.
DC Mud
is reporting that a group met last month to appoint five board members to form an Anacostia business improvement district, with hopes to be operational by March 2013.
“New board member Jeff Voudrie says the group will use the time between now and March to prepare for their next steps. After hiring a director and renting a permanent office space, the first order of business will be to increase basic services in the business district, particularly from a visual perspective.”
