Another D.C. superlative: America’s 6th most caffeinated city

(BigStock photo)
File this under today’s unneccesary Washington superlative (after news of our notorious traffic problem, of course): D.C. is the sixth most caffeinated city in the nation.

In the National Coffee Association’s new National Coffee Drinking Trends 2011, Chicago, New York, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles rank ahead of D.C. in terms of the availability of coffee and the intake of all forms of caffeine. We don’t know if the study took into account the never-ending Starbucks, Caribou Coffee and grocery store lines into account; perhaps we could’ve been bumped up to a more respectible fourth place.

You can buy the organization’s entire report for $425.
