Bad air, bad traffic, heat wave approaches

Good morning. There’s a Code Orange air quality alert today, the heat and humidity returns and traffic is snarled. Welcome to Monday.

In court today will be one of the aides to former Maryland Gov. Robert Ehrlich, who is accused of trying to suppress the black vote during last year’s elections with robocalls that attempted to dissuade them from voting.

Two people are dead and three severely injured after a tour bus from Washington crashed in western New York. The 37 passengers appeared to be from India. At least three people suffered serious injuries, police said.

Do local students who find themselves in trouble have the right to refuse to talk without a lawyer present? You’d think so. But some are not getting Miranda warnings, even after a Supreme Court ruling.

So many celebrities in NoVa lately, you’d think it was East Hollywood. The state’s film office has $3 million to offer in incentives, and more than a dozen films, TV shows and the like used Virginia settings last year.

If you’re into the social media world, and you care about local transportation, you’re going to see a lot more of Metro online. The mass transit agency is ramping up its Twitter, Facebook, blog, etc., presence.
