D.C. Tweeps 2011: Q&A with 2010 Favorite Fashionista Kelly Collis

Last year's Favorite Fashionista isn't just on the web. She's a radio personality on 94.7 Fresh FM, too. (Kristina Hunter - Courtesy of Kelly Collis)
If you haven’t nominated your favorite D.C.-area social media personalities yet, do it here at D.C. Tweeps.

We’ve also added two additional categories: Favorite Activist and Favorite Arts Scenester. (Thanks to tweeps Jason and Jan-Michael for the good suggestions.)

While you nominate, we’re interviewing last year’s winners. (Earlier this week, Spike Mendelsohn and NASA answered our five questions.)

Next up is a Q&A with last year’s Favorite Fashionista. You might know her around Twitter as @CityShopGirl.

Name: Kelly Collis

Location: Washington, DC - Glover Park

Twitter handle: @CityShopGirl

In 200 words or less, please give us a short, witty bio about yourself or your institution: Recently divorced, my social life has been rocked by my new single life and then getting a job that forces me to wake at 3:30 am to host a morning radio show on 94.7. A native Washingtonian, a lover of all things D.C., especially cherry blossom time, hobbies include finding favorite brunch spots, scoring shopping bargains from clothes, housewares, and furniture, finding the ultimate hostess gift and most importantly spending time as a mother of 5 and 7 year old exploring all of the D.C. museums and tasting all the new burger joints on the weekend.

If you were a D.C. landmark, you’d be … The old Woodies building on 11th and G Street - it has gone from a Washington institute - a flagship department store, to housing West Elm, Madame Tussauds, and now Zara and H&M. The building’s architecture is vintage and it is classic D.C. that it continues to evolve as a landmark.

Favorite “secret” location: D.C.'s Spanish Steps (Flickr user Clio1789 - Image via Creative Commons)
If you suddenly woke up on the other side of the world, unable to return, what would you miss most about D.C.? How can I pick just one? Dupont Farmers Market, 2 Amys Pizza and going for a run over the Memorial Bridge.

What’s the best part of Washington – the one that no one knows about? Spanish Steps on S and 20th Streets. Perfect discreet and romantic spot to make out.

Why should you win Top Tweep again? I remain consistent in what I tweet about - still all things DC, shopping, places to eat but also now talk more about relationships.
