The competition asked designers to re-envision three prominent but run-down Mall spaces: Union Square, the area near the U.S. Botanic Garden; the Sylvan Theater grounds, southeast of the Washington Monument; and Constitution Gardens Lake, south of Constitution Avenue and 24th Street.
The design finalists will be on display at the Smithsonian Castle and the National Museum of American History through April 15.
The public is invited to provide feedback on the design concepts.
Judges selected by the Trust for the National Mall will select a winner for each location. The winners are expected to be announced May 3.
