Forbes has released its annual list of Planet Earth’s wealthiest people, and 14 of the world’s 1,226 billionaires reside in the Washington area.
Washington Business Journal sorted out the D.C. area billionaires from the master list. Among them: Jacqueline Mars (No. 52, $13.8 billion); Richard Marriott (No. 764, $1.7 billion); and Dan Snyder (No. 1075, $1.1 billion).
The Forbes list — not to be confused with Bloomberg’s recently released, real-time rich people tracker — reached an all-time high of $4.6 trillion this year, and the group’s total net worth grew 2 percent. Success stories include Facebook czar Mark Zuckerberg, fashion magnate Miuccia Prada and Spanx’s “newfangled girdle” mastermind Sara Blakely.
