A gas station in Laurel is giving away $20 worth of free gas Friday morning to every car that stops by.

The free fuel is available at the Shell station at 703 Washington Boulevard South, on Route 1 near Route 198.

The giveaway kicked off at 6:30 a.m. and will only be available until 9:30 a.m.

The Laurel Shell is one of three stations nationwide that is giving away gas today to promote the new season of “Gold Rush,” premiering on the Discovery Channel at 9 p.m.

Shell stations in Los Angeles and Chicago are also participating.

Washington, Los Angeles and Chicago made headlines earlier this year as the most congested cities in terms of traffic. Washington and Chicago were tied for worst traffic congestion in the nation, followed by Los Angeles in third place.

The television station is covering the cost of the free gas.

If you won’t be near Laurel but still want a deal on the cheapest gas in the area, you might want to check out Gasbuddy.com.

Gasbuddy.com maintains a database of reports from volunteer price spotters and service stations. If you don’t see your favorite filling station listed below, leave it in the comments.
