(Drunk driving: It bites (wrap.org))
Costumed partiers, take note: The Washington Regional Alcohol Program will dispatch free taxi rides to Halloween revelers from 10 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday as part of its SoberRide program.
The SoberRide program provides the rides to people 21 or older who may be too impaired to drive, and it provides a free equivalent to a $30 cab fare. You might remember the service from other holidays: the service shuttles during the December/January holidays, St. Patrick’s Day and Independence Day as well.
For this, I have to give a hat tip to an e-mail listserv comprised of my D.C.-based friends, one of whom relayed this caveat: “call in early,” as it seems the service gets overwhelmed during early morning travel hours.
