Jeff Mangum coming to D.C., fans freaking out

Jeff Mangum, the elusive musician behind Neutral Milk Hotel, will appear Jan. 27 at Lincoln Theatre.

Mangum’s act released the breakout “In the Aeroplane Over the Sea” 13 years ago, and music writers have had to savor the memory since. Slate refers to the reclusive singer as the “Salinger of Indie Rock.”

Tickets go on sale Friday at noon, and already fans are trying to figure out how to beat each other to the punch.
