“Get on the Bridge,” touted by organizers as a national solidarity movement to celebrate the two-month anniversary of Occupy Wall Street, could disrupt your Thursday commute.
This Thurs is a national day of action. Google "Get on the Bridge + November 17th" to see what's going on in your area. #99percent
Related events are planned for Richmond, Milwaukee, Portland and Pittsburgh. Local celebration plans include an announced march to Key Bridge at 2:30 p.m., but local chatter indicates protesters will be showing up around 4 p.m. — just before the evening rush hour begins. The Facebook invite suggests 3:30 p.m.
"Get on the Bridge" Thursday 11/17, 4 PM, march with #OccupyDC from McPherson to Key Bridge! Solidarity with #occupywallst!
Basically, it just might not be a good idea to plan on commuting through Georgeown Thursday. Participants say they’ll try to keep out of traffic, but Dr. Gridlock will keep you posted either way.
