Here’s a roundup of stories to read before your evening commute:

Oscar Ramiro Ortega arrested. A 21-year-old man suspected of firing rifle shots near the White House last week was arrested in Pennsylvania as authorities continued investigating a bullet hole discovered in a window at the executive mansion, the Secret Service said.

Occupy D.C. protest Thursday could snarl your commute. The “Get on the Bridge” march, one of several planned to celebrate the two-month anniversary of Occupy Wall Street, should go from 2:30 to 6 p.m., according to OccupyDC.org’s schedule.

D.C.will get six (six!) new Wal-Marts. Is the store’s growth in the District a good idea? Take the poll. (So far, most of you are saying yes.)

For a city in Montgomery, staying debt-free is the norm. The nation’s debt in dollars consists of 14 digits. The District’s, 10. But Gaithersburg has only one: zero. How do they do it?

Is pizza a vegetable? A new law may say so.
