Happy Friday, everyone! Our picks for the five stories you should check out this morning:

D.C. Council’s Harry Thomas Jr. plea hearing today. Thomas gave up his council seat following charges that he embezzled more than $300,000 from the city and filed a false tax return.

What’s happening this winter. Peruse the Going Out Guide’s list of winter events, and vote for your favorite. Cupid’s Undie Run is leading the votes this morning with 14 percent, followed by events including the National Cherry Blossom Festival and the Eighth Annual Great Rum Punch Challenge.
