Police Week draws officers, fans to D.C.

National Police Week is in full swing with competitions, ceremonies and conference events in the District.

Motorcyclists and officers participating in the 17th annual Law Ride Sunday morning traveled from RFK Stadium to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Judiciary Square. The Law Ride, like many Police Week events, honors fallen officers and their survivors.

You may encounter traffic delays if you’re traveling through a Police Week event. Here are the ceremonies in the near future:

On Monday, Police Week attendees will meet at New Jersey Avenue and F Street Northwest at 4:30 p.m., then march to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial at 6 p.m. They will be accompanied by a marching pipeband.

A memorial service will be held on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol building at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The service concludes with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Officers Memorial.

Most Police Week ceremonies will take place at the Officers Memorial. The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund site has a full list of this week’s events.
