The Republican National Convention gets underway Tuesday with with Mitt Romney being officially nominated for president. Among those in attendance are 72 officaldelegates and alternates from Maryland. While the Maryland contingent offers a mix of conservative ideals, according to MarylandReporter.com , the group is in agreement about the importance of fiscal issues.
“I would call it a focus gap,” Charles Lollar, [a tea party Republican] said. “You’ll find conservatives that are so concerned about social issues that they’ll take their foot off what’s important. Conservatives should be concerned about the fundamentals: Making sure we have a balanced budget and making sure everyone has the opportunity to live within their own means.”
