Safeway closing Watergate store; Cyber Monday concludes strong sales weekend (#AMBuzz)

Here are our picks for five stories to read this morning:

It’s Cyber Monday. This year, daily-deal sites are new to the mix. Research firms are already reporting strong Thanksgiving holiday weekend sales, thanks to a jump in online purchases.

(Marvin Joseph - The Washington Post)
Safeway is closing its aging Watergate store on Saturday. The supermarket, on the ground floor of the Watergate complex, has fallen on hard times.

What’s that gaping hole in the White House lawn? Maybe it’s a bunker, maybe not. Either way, underground structures are nothing new in Washington.

(Matt McClain - For The Washington Post)
Unusual violence in Dupont Circle leaves one dead and five injured. A fight broke out at Heritage India, forcing D.C. Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier to close the restaurant early Sunday.

Disney is backing out of a proposed National Harbor project. Its plans for a resort near the Beltway have been scrapped.

Coming up today: A record high temperature was set at Dulles International Airport yesterday, and today will be unusually warm, too. Check PostLocal for the latest weather, plus news about the possible release of a Maryland man held in Aruba; a court date for the man who allegedly shot at the White House; the Georgetown student detained and then released in Egypt; and breaking news throughout the day.
