Sweetlife Festival’s full lineup and other concert news

Local rockers U.S. Royalty and Modern Man are among the performers joining the Strokes at this year’s Sweetlife Festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion on May 1, reports Click Track’s David Malitz.

The festival announced its full lineup today, spanning rap, rock, pop and electronica with acts including Girl Talk, Lupe Fiasco, Crystal Castles, Cold War Kids, Ra Ra Riot and Walk the Moon. Before you start checking for a receding hairline in panic, rest assured that it’s totally normal to feel old if you don’t recognize the performers. (Just don’t admit to anyone that you thought Girl Talk was a girl group from the ’80s.)

“These are bands with seriously young fanbases ... mostly teenagers and people in their early 20s,” Malitz writes. “So expect it to be an overwhelmingly young crowd at Merriweather on May 1.”

Pre-sale starts tomorrow at 10 a.m., with the full sale beginning Friday.

On sadder concert news, TBD reports that the inaugural all-local music festival D.C. Music Fest has been canceled due to a “lack of funding and sponsorships.”
