(Lavanya Ramanathan - THE WASHINGTON POST)
Not to be outdone by meat-loving Washingtonians, the vegans and vegetarians of the District will host “D.C. Meat-Free Week” just after Meat Week ends Feb. 5.
It’s the third year in a row organizers will attempt to provide an alternative to the aforementioned carnivorous event.
“Meat, meet your match,” reads a promotion for the event at DCVegan.org. Participants can look forward to vegan or vegetarian cuisine from Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats, Meridian Pint, Elizabeth’s Gone Raw, Bread and Brew and more. Items on the various menus include BBQ seitan, purple slaw, corn bread and, of course, plenty of beer.
