This week’s Best of the Blogs

(Michael S. Williamson)
This week we kick off a new feature on The Buzz. Every Friday afternoon in this space, we’ll be featuring five of the best stories from the local blogosphere. If you have a local blog story you’d like to be considered, you can submit the link here.

•Penn Quarter Living has an initial list of “demands” should the local Occupy movement sweep through its neighborhood. High on the list: “Set a ceiling on the number of frozen yogurt and/or cupcake stores allowed in a square block.”

•Annandale, VA offers a thorough wrap-up and analysis of the recent Virginia Senate debate between Democratic incumbent Dave Marsden and Republican challenger Jason Flanary. The closely contested race for Virginia’s 37th district will determine which party controls the State Senate.

•The Wash Cycle memorializes Anne Arundel conservationist Russell Gordon “Buz” Meyer and hopes his life will serve as a reminder that, even if they disagree, cycling advocates and conservationists have much in common.

•On Frozen Blog suggests one big reason the Capitals are off to the best start in franchise history is that they’ve learned how to set the tone early in games.

•How Chow has a thorough catalogue of all the best 2011 “food experiences” in Howard County, including everything from farm-picked strawberries to craft beers.
