Unique holiday gifts: D.C.’s good gifting finds (#dcgifts)

Our 2011 Holiday Guide is packed to the gills with gift ideas for just about every sort of person, interest or price point.

After tearing myself away from the cheap foodie gifts gallery, I thought it might be nice to try and gather a list of locally loved gift ideas. I’ll add to it as I find more good gift ideas. Leave me yours in the comments below. Let’s get started:

• I’ve been intrigued by Crunkcakes, the H-Street cupcake operation run by Faith Alice Sleeper and Raychel Sabath, for a while now. The duo is taking now taking holiday orders for that boozy foodie in your life. Selections include the Irish Car Bomb cupcake, infused with Jameson whiskey, and the Saucy Santa, an eggnog cupcake infused with bourbon. (Read more about Crunkcakes from Washington City Paper.)

• For the kind of person in your life who might enjoy a $300 pen — I’m drawing a blank personally — the Capital Business crew recommends high-end Mont Blancs from Bertram’s Inkwell in Kensington.

This could be my favorite find from Chocolate Moose. That’s because I’m a nerd. (Katie Rogers)
• Another recommendation from Capital Business is to stop by the Chocolate Moose on L Street, and this one I can totally get behind. My favorite finds from the Moose include coasters made to look like vinyl records and paper tweets. (View the rest of Capital Business’s picks here.)

• Sign up someone you love for a “Pie CSA.” For just $154, you can buy a “share” in the operation and receive a “harvest” of two pies every two weeks. This crazy/awesome project is brought to you by Whisked!, the same group that operates at the 14th and U farmers market.

• This might be the perfect holiday gift for a group of kids: the chance to decorate a gingerbread house. Cork Market’s second Annual Gingerbread House Decorating Party is this Saturday and includes the fixings you need — and, as BYT notes, wine for the parents.

• Going Out Guide also has a list of unique holiday shopping destinations. One awesome list item: The Rock-n-Shop, Black Cat’s annual garage sale, going on this Sunday.

Where else should I look? Let me know in the comments below or by using #DCGifts on Twitter. I’ll add your ideas to this blog post.
