Most people who win the lottery consider themselves lucky. But for one Arlington man, the luck is starting to feel a little “routine.”

“Gotta get my picture taken again,” said Joseph Sylvester, who on July 3 won the $100,000 top prize in the Virginia Lottery’s Cash 5 game — for the second time in three months.

Sylvester’s first win happened on April 3. Exactly three months later, he played and won again.

Lottery officials said that for his latest win, Sylvester left his luck up to a machine, using the computerized Easy Pick option instead of selecting his own.

The computer’s winning picks were 11-15-19-26-27. Sylvester bought the winning ticket at the 7-Eleven at 1500 South Fern Street in Arlington.

Sylvester said he spent his original winnings on a new truck and paying bills.

He didn’t say how he will spend his second $100,000 prize or whether he intends on playing Cash 5 again in three months, on Oct. 3.

The chances of winning the $100,000 top prize are 1 in 278,256, according to officials.
