Washingtology: 5 favorite D.C. spots

She’s the mother of former D.C. mayor Anthony Williams, but Virginia E. Hayes Williams is also a community activist, singer, educator, author and a licensed evangelist.

She’s also the latest D.C. insider featured by Cultural Tourism DC, now celebrating the opening of Lift Every Voice: Georgia Ave./Pleasant Plains Heritage Trail, which asks people about their favorite places, events and programs.

The Embassy Adoption Program, a partnership with Washington Performing Arts Society, DC Public Schools and embassies that provides students opportunities to increase their knowledge of other cultures, tops her list.
