Mitt Romney and allies spent $3.6 million on Illinois
Mitt Romney did not take his Illinois victory for granted — the former Massachusetts governor, along with his allies at the super PAC Restore Our Future, spent $3.6 million on television ads in the state, according to a Republican media buyer.
The bulk of that spending came from the super PAC: Romney himself spent $1.1 million; Restore Our Future spent $2.5 million.
Former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum spent a mere $207,231 in the Land of Lincoln. His super PAC, the Red White & Blue Fund, spent $309,750, for a total of $516,981.
So Santorum was outspent about 7 to 1.
