Romney super PAC airs ‘doing fine’ ad

A super PAC supporting former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney has launched its own ad using President Obama’s comment that “the private sector is doing fine.”

The ad is part of Restore Our Future’s $7 million ad campaign in eight battleground states.

Via Politico:

“America’s jobless rate just went up — again,” the narrator says, in between clips of Obama’s poorly-chosen words. “23 million Americans can’t find full-time jobs; 30 percent have been out of work for over a year; and under Obama, 800,000 more women are unemployed.”

Romney is running his own ads using the quote, in both English and Spanish. The White House has emphasized the broader context of Obama’s remarks; the president was arguing that the public sector was lagging behind the private sector and needed more help. But clearly this line will live on in attack ads for some time.
