The Florida Republican presidential primary — in one chart
By Chris Cillizza,
Florida’s primary began like a lion but may be headed for lamb status as former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney looks headed to a clear victory over former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on Tuesday.
This handy-dandy chart from the good folks at pollster.com, which aggregates all of the polling data out there on the Florida presidential primary, tells you everything you need to know about the relative momentum of each of the top two candidates heading into tomorrow’s vote. Romney has risen rapidly since losing in South Carolina on Jan. 21; Gingrich has dropped just as precipitously.
One thing to consider when looking at the chart above: Does Romney’s large lead in the Florida polling make a double-digit victory a necessity for his campaign to try and end the race between now and the end of February? Or is a Romney win in Florida — of any size — enough?
