The branding of Barack Obama and Mitt Romney

People who are fans of President Obama on Facebook are 17 times more likely than the average Facebook user to also like MSNBC's Rachel Maddow.  People who are fans of former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney are six times more likely than the average Facebook user to like Southern Living magazine.

Those findings -- and much more (said in our best gameshow announcer voice)-- are part of a study that SocialCode, an advertising agency focused on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, conducted in hopes of imagining the two candidates for president this fall as social brands. (Disclaimer: SocialCode is owned by the Washington Post company and its CEO -- Laura O'Shaughnessy -- is a Fix friend.)

A graphic illustrating the results -- including the two candidates wearing the brands that their fans are also fans of! - is below. Our favorites? Obama Facebook fans are 11 times more likely to "like" George Foreman cooking than the average Facebook user while Romney fans are almost 10 times more likely than the average person on Facebook to be fans of Maxwell House coffee.
