The State of the Union: 1913 vs 2013

As President Obama prepares to paint his vision of the future in his fourth State of the Union address on Tuesday night, it's worth remembering where we have been as a nation.

Our friends at the "Newshour" -- the second best thing on PBS after "Downton Abbey" -- put together this great infographic comparing the U.S. in 1913 to the U.S. in 2013.

The good news? We live, on average, about 25 years longer than we did 100 years ago. The bad news? The unemployment rate today is almost four percentage points higher than it was in 1913.
