North Colorado, the 51st State? (VIDEO)

August 22, 2013

There is an active effort underway in several northeastern Colorado counties to place an initiative on the ballot this fall that would allow them to secede from the rest of the state and create a new state called "North Colorado".

The secession movement is driven by grievances the rural, conservative communities have with a Democratic-controlled legislature that has passed legislation on guns and energy that they disagree with.

Does the 51st state movement have any chance of succeeding at seceding? Probably not. We broke it down on "In Play".
