Wednesday is the new Friday on Capitol Hill

September 17, 2013

The ways of Washington are backward from the ways of most of America.  This is nothing new. But, nowhere is that difference more stark than in the weekly schedule that governs the nation's capital.

Witness this chart from Sunlight Foundation's Political Party Time -- great name! -- that documents the days of the week that are most (and least) popular for fundraising.

Wednesday on Capitol Hill is the Friday for everyone else. It's the center of the political week because Congress tends to not be in session Mondays and Fridays. That makes Wednesday the hot night of the week -- can't believe we typed that -- for Congressional fundraising.  For the rest of the universe, it's just hump day.
