The Navy Yard shootings won’t change gun control politics

It's easy amid the horrors of this week at the Washington Navy Yard to assume that the debate over gun control will re-start in the nation's capitol.  Easy -- and wrong.

If the slaying of 20 children in an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, which captured the nation's attention for months and led to a major public push by the White House, didn't change gun laws, nothing will. (Or at least nothing we could imagine.)
