What's more amazing in the photo above: That Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is poised to shake hands with someone in a pig costume or that Cruz and Sen. John McCain are at an event together?
The occasion that sparked this amazing trio was the release of Citizens Against Government Waste's 2014 Congressional Pig Book, a biennial documentation of how the government spends (and misspends) American tax dollars. This has long been a hobbyhorse for McCain; who could forget — literally, because he said it roughly 1 billion times during the 2000/2008 campaigns — that Congress spent $3 million to study the DNA of bears in Montana? Cruz, who has feuded with McCain repeatedly during his first two years in the Senate, is also an outspoken voice on government waste. Also, on pigs. “I’ve never done a press conference standing next to a 6-foot pig," Cruz said, according to Roll Call's Niels Lesniewski.
You want more of Cruz and pigs? (Of course you do!) Here's a pic of him and an actual one — also from Wednesday.
Too bad our government's pork problem isn't as cute as this fella. pic.twitter.com/L3Q3QtfXDw
