Pinch me. I think I’m having a rare and racy Democratic dream. Newt won! He really did. It may never get any better than this for President Obama. His campaign would be forgiven if it slows just a moment to enjoy this massive Republican wreck. The most beatable Republican has just made it a race.
This is Mitt Romney’s moment of truth, the life passing before his eyes moment that either kills or saves him. The kind of test most nominees face, where their toughness, endurance and resilience is doused in acid. How will emerge? He will need to adapt and re-tool, and he will need to do better than tonight when he called Newt, “an instrument of the left.” Much better.
