Dumfries’ Ali Krieger nets World Cup game-winner

If you missed Sunday’s U.S.-Brazil women’s World Cup soccer match, you missed a crazy good game. The U.S. scored way late in extra time to force a penalty kick showdown, and Dumfries’s own Ali Krieger, from Forest Park High School, slammed home the winning PK to give the Yanks the victory.

Here’s a great piece that The Post’s Steve Goff wrote on Krieger last month, recounting her incredible journey from Prince William County to Penn State University to near fatal health problems to the World Cup pitch in Germany.

And here is a very fine video of Krieger talking about playing soccer in Northern Virginia, with some footage of her playing at RFK Stadium as a little girl, clearly already dominating the bigger girls.
