(AmericanCollegeCricket.com)
Who knew? Forget basketball. George Mason's cricket team put up 138 runs, which sounds like a lot, and they defeated their archrival, the 2009 champions Montgomery College, to snag the coveted Chanderpaul Trophy on March 21. So the Patriots, after knocking off Penn in the semifinals (the Cricket Final Four!) are National Champions of American College Cricket.
The American College Cricket website has more details here. And here are some video highlights, complete with cheerleaders (!?!) and color commentary ("all that needs to happen now is for the overweight lady to come out and start singing, perhaps"). (I did not make that up.)
