St. Pat’s Day a fed holiday? Gerry Connolly gets his April Fool’s on

“And I demand green beer bongs in the Members Dining...Hey, I’m talkin’ here!” (LARRY MORRIS - TWP)
Just when you thought that “sense of humor” and “politician” don’t belong in the same paragraph, here comes Fairfax’s Rep. Gerald Connolly to declare that St. Patrick’s Day, that annual debauch devoted to alcohol and snakes, should be a legitimate federal holiday.

Please note the date on the press release: April 1! HAR HAR.

The release says Connolly is introducing The Irish-American Recognition and Respect Act, and that “St. Patrick’s Day is the Holiest Day of the Year for me and thousands of fellow Irish-Americans...The idea that we’re all supposed to go to work and act as if it’s any other day is patently unfair.”

Well, he may have a point there.
