Oh Alicia Hughes, you have been so entertaining. From the moment you were first elected to the Alexandria City Council two years ago, you were almost immediately facing eviction from your West End apartment, appeared to also have a house in Baltimore, and seemed to have some serious financial problems.
Then it wasn’t clear whether or not you really lived in Alexandria and were registered to vote there, even though you won your election. Then, there were questions about whether you had violated the Hatch Act, by being a federal employee banned from political activity. The Alexandria Times said you were cleared of any problems there last month.
Now, you’ve apparently taken a job in Delaware (!?!), at the Delaware Biotechnology Institute in Newark, according to the Alexandria News. And most recently, the Alexandria News also reports, you’ve picked up a reckless driving ticket in Virginia Beach for going 88 mph in a 55 zone.
Hey, a lot of people think Alexandria’s a great place to live and work. But if you want to work in Delaware, live in Baltimore, speed in Virginia Beach and represent Alexandria, have at it.
