Woodbridge commuter lot closes, but handy map found

(Linda Davidson - THE WASHINGTON POST)
After 750 commuter parking spaces vanished from the Potomac Mills mall lot earlier this year, transportation authorities cut a deal for spaces at the First Baptist Church, on Minnieville Road near Prince William Parkway in Woodbridge. But you had to take a shuttle bus from there to get to the Horner Road lot, commuters didn’t like it, and after four months it’s been shut down, PotomacLocal.com is reporting.

But all is not lost. A closer lot is opening, and PotomacLocal.com has a very handy map of commuter lots all along the I-95 corridor. Read on.

Officials think the First Baptist parking lot was just too far from Interstate 95 for commuters, and are trying another approach, Christine Rodrigo of the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission told PotomacLocal.com. Instead, the commission is going to lease 222 spaces adjacent to an existing commuter lot at Old Bridge and Minnieville roads in Lake Ridge, Rodrigo said.

Meanwhile, PotomacLocal.com also has an excellent map of commuter parking lots along I-95 in both Prince William and Fairfax counties, showing which lots are usually full and which ones usually have space. That map is right here.
