The NSA’s global spying operation in one map

Since information about National Security Agency surveillance programs started trickling out via former contractor Edward Snowden earlier this summer, it's been hard to keep track of how many of these programs are out there, and where. In this map, we identify the countries have been specifically cited as targets of U.S. spying programs in news reports or leaked documents.

This map includes only foreign countries where NSA surveillance programs have been specifically reported and does not show domestic surveillance programs. It does not include NSA programs such as Boundless Informant and PRISM, which collect communications from around the world.
