The 50-year-old unexpectedly died in 2008 from pneumonia. Mac was diagnosed with sarcoidosis at 28, a condition that causes uncontrolled inflammation in the body’s immune system and it apparently contributed to his death.
In “I Ain’t Scared of You,” fans and celebrities like Angela Bassett, Don Cheadle, Tom Arnold, Bill Bellamy, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Rock, Camille Winbush, Joe Torry and Steven Sodenburgh all share their love for the comedian and actor.
Mac was the star of his own self-titled Fox sitcom and was one of the “Kings of Comedy.”
Mac’s daughter, Je’Niece McCullough, conducted some of the interviews. Part of the proceeds of DVD sales for “I Ain’t Scared of You” will go to the Bernie Mac Foundation, which aims to raise awareness for sarcoidosis.
