Gabrielle Union to star in BET’s ‘Single Black Female’

Nearly everything about the single, black woman is a topic of conversation in the media. Who is she dating? Will she marry? How much does she earn? The declining marriage rate and pressures to date have all made headlines.

BET is set to premiere ‘Single Black Female’ with Gabrielle Union as the star of the show. The hourlong show is from the husband-and-wife duo Mara Brock and Salim Akil, who also wrote ‘The Game,’ another popular show on BET.

The show is about a young African American talk show host living and working in Atlanta. Union is currently starring alongside Tyler Perry in his new movie ‘Good Deeds.’

This also comes as BET has sought to improve its image with scripted shows chronicling the lives of everyday African Americans. Many have long complained that the network was little more than a place for risqué rap videos.
