An unseemingly fresh winebar nestled amongst abandoned buildings; this new hot spot follows the trend of the “unknown” in The District.
At the corner of 9th and U Streets, on the other end of the jazz district, you have to know where it is to know what it is. With no sign and minimal renovation to its shell, Dickson is easy to overlook, assuming it’s another dilapidated row house on U...Don’t be fooled!
Erica Hankerson
Dickson suggests a simply sophisticated atmosphere with more than 22 choices of wine and a host of other cocktails. The ambiance is industrially calming but trendy and offers communal dining to promote an intimate flair.
Dickson offers pairing bites of cheese, flatbread, olives, charcuterie, banh mi sandwiches and more. And if you’re feeling thirsty, they’ve got you covered with organic wines from all over the world, sparkling spirits, and creative cocktails where many include their featured wines.
They offer happy hours Monday through Friday, 6p.m.-7p.m., as well as late night happy hour, 11p.m.-1a.m. They’ve got $5 wine (white, red, sparkling), $4 beers, and $10 meat/cheese sampler platters!
With three levels of deep sea-blue walls, this wine house is adorned with rustic bottles, cool mirrors and concrete flooring. This place is a knock out! If you’re looking for a small, comfortable place that invites great conversation, great wine and pairings, Dickson is an absolute must!
