Legendary actor John Amos will join the cast of Martin Lawrence’s new cop comedy on CBS, according to Deadline.com.

Lawrence plays Ty, a widowed father with two teenage kids on the show, which has yet to be named. After Ty loses his construction job at 46, he decides to become a rookie police man.
Amos is known for his roles on the sitcom classics The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Good Times. He will play Captain Lorenzo, Ty’s tough, straightforward boss.
Ethan Suplee and Sydney Park also have been added to the cast. Suplee, of My Name is Earl, will play Travis, Ty’ well-meaning good natured partner. Park will play Lawrence’s teenage daughter.
The show’s the air date has not yet been announced.
