Does Memorial Day weekend sneak up on you every year? It happens to me all the time. If you have been caught off guard again this year (like me, again), here are some fun and off the beaten track ideas to salvage your Memorial Day holiday and kick the summer off right! Cheers!
Live Life Like a High Roller. Escape to the Jersey shore for the premiere weekend at Revel, the $2.6 billion oceanfront casino and spa in Atlantic City. Lay by the pool or beach all day. Get a soothing spa treatment at Bask. Meet the girls for a glass of wine at the O Bistro and Wine Bar; hang out with the guys at Village Whiskey.
Or check out the menu at Amada, celebrity chef Jose Garce’s new restaurant. Then go see Beyonce, who will be appearing all weekend. You can also hit the dance floor at one of the resort’s three night-clubs, including Ivan Kane’s Royal Jelly Burlesque Nightclub. Revel Resorts, 500 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, NJ 08401, (855)-348-0500.
Why? Because isn’t it time to start your own Rat Pack? And you might see me there. But if you do, remember what happens in Atlantic City, stays in Atlantic City! Enjoy!
Learn to Stand-Up Paddle Board. Get out on the water for a three-hour Stand Up Paddle Fundamentals lesson from Potomac Paddle Sports in Rockville. The instruction includes practicing the proper stance and propulsion strokes. Then take a group tour with your instructor. Classes are this Saturday at 8:00 am and 12:00 pm.
Board and equipment rentals for those who want to go out on their own are also available. Potomac Paddle Sports, 11917 Maple Ave., Rockville, MD 20852, (301) 881-2628.
Why? Because you’ll be using your core muscles and arms to paddle standing and there’s no better time to work on your abs! Summer is here!
