Cato’s Samples on Colbert’s SuperPAC, the FEC and Citizens United

Last week, the Federal Election Commission ruled that Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert can proceed with plans to form his so-called SuperPAC to raise and spend unlimited funds in the 2012 elections, in accordance with the Citizens United decision.

But Cato’s John Samples is none too happy, saying that after the hearing, “the little clown has gotten back into the car and driven off.” And if anything’s changed, it’s not for the better, says Samples.
