Barbara Walters has released her Ten Most Fascinating People of 2011 list.

Yes, this list is the template for the annual end-of-year ABC News special, hosted by Babs.

No, John Boehner — who became speaker of the House in ’11 — is not on the list. Ditto that manager of that Japanese nuclear-power plant during a hydrogen explosion who defied authority and ignored orders to stop pumping seawater into a reactor to cool it — which is thought to have saved hundreds of lives.

Also not making the list: toppled Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, or Libyan strongman Moammar Qaddafi.

Anyway, Babs needs ratings to keep this gravy train running. So instead, the centerpiece selection of this year’s list is ... the Kardashian family!

That’s because, ABC News explained in Wednesday’s announcement, the Kardashians are American Reality Royalty.

Also on the list, as described in the announcement:

●The “always provocative” Simon Cowell

● The “breakout” stars of “Modern Family” Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet

●New York Yankees infielder/captain Derek Jeter

Pippa Middleton (GLYN KIRK - AFP/GETTY IMAGES)
●American business tycoon/author/TV personality Donald Trump (Trump was also Most Fascinating in 2004.)

●Pop singing sensation Katy Perry

and

●World’s most famous sister Pippa Middleton

Boehner might still make the list. Walters did not reveal who is the No.1 Most Fascinating Person of this year. That person is kept under close wraps until the special airs Dec. 14.
