Bret Baier signs multi-year deal with Fox News Channel

Fox News Channel anchor Bret Baier has renewed his contract with the cable news network for a multi-year deal.

Baier will continue to anchor “Special Report,” FNC’s 6 p.m. broadcast, and continue as lead anchor of political coverage through the 2016 election.

Before taking over “Special Report” from Brit Hume in January 2009, Baier served as the network’s chief White House correspondent for three years; before then, he was a national security correspondent.

The news comes two weeks after fellow Fox News Channel anchor Bill O’Reilly signed a multi-year pact to stay at the network.
